Starting too late is ineffective and will result in poor efficiency and a lot of damage to your flowers or crop. Therefore, it's crucial to have a good alarm system that indicates the proper time to start your frost protection equipment. Our alarm is specially designed for the fight against night frost. It's placed in the orchard, in the coldest (lowest) spot. It has a mobile SIM-card that sends a SMS-message to your mobile phone when the set warning temperature is reached. The Frost Alarm is powered by a 12 Volt battery. The Frost Alarm also has 2 temperature sensors: a dry and a wet. It is very important in the fight against night frost that the wet temperature is constantly monitored. Starting up on a dry temperature can be very dangerous and here's why. The important temperature for flowers is the wet temperature, and this can be a lot lower than the dry temperature, depending on the air humidity. For example: a dry temperature of 0 °C with a humidity of 50% results in a wet temperature of -2,9 °C, and damage to the flowers is likely. Therefore, to effectively protect the crop, the Frost Alarm uses a wet temperature. The alarm can be programmed while connected with your computer, or it can be programmed remotely by using a modem.
